RCIA LIBRARY The RCIA library is a small but growing collection of books available to be checked out by those attending RCIA. The library contains several volumes related to Catholic faith and life, as well as books concerning conversion from other denominations and religions to Catholicism. Below is a partial list of titles currently available through the RCIA library. Please check with the RCIA director or a team member before or after RCIA class concerning checking out one of these informative books. Please be considerate of your fellow catechumens, candidates, and sponsors by returning books checked out of the RCIA library within the two week check out period. |
RCIA Library Book Donations The RCIA team graciously accepts donations of books to the RCIA library. If you have read a book that inspired you on your faith journey and wish to make it a part of the RCIA library please let us know. Each person who donates a book or books to the RCIA library will have the opportunity to dedicate their donation in memory of a loved one using a custom designed RCIA library bookplate. The bookplate bears an image of the Holy Family as well as the dome of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. To donate a book or books to the RCIA library please bring the titles with you to our regular RCIA meeting and give it to a member of the team. Be sure and let them know if you would like to dedicate it to someone so that they can provide you with a bookplate to include your information. NOTES: The final decision on whether or not to include a donated book into the library is at the discretion of the RCIA director. While books that bear both the Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat are most appreciated, they are not mandatory for a volume's inclusion into the library. Nihil Obstat - The phrase used by the official censor of the Roman Catholic Church to say that a publication has been examined and contains nothing offensive to the Church. Imprimatur - An official declaration from the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church that a literary or similar work is free from error in matters of Roman Catholic doctrine and morals, and hence acceptable reading for faithful Roman Catholics.
